With this downloadable resource from TRRC Project Collaborator Dr. Pamela Bazis and the accompanying instructional video, you can encourage and support students as they practice their expository writing with a sequence.
Mat 6a builds on skills from Mats 1-5. With Mat 6a, use a specific structure to write sentences about an event or action (cause) that causes something to happen (effect). The directions and mat are identified by the star symbol, meaning it is for young writers with intermediate abilities.
Mat 6b builds on skills from Mat 6a. With Mat 6b, use a specific structure to write sentences about a cause and its effect. The directions and mat are identified by the sun symbol, meaning it is for young writers with more advanced abilities.
Use this accompanying video of instructions to guide you and your student through using the mats.
